Yesterday’s Questions
Yesterday I had a few questions and assumptions that we need to first see if it happened!
McCarville: The Northern Ontario curling powerhouse has adjusted to the Calgary air. She won her games against Newfoundland & Labrador, and PEI with a very strong showing.
Ackerman: The cracks are starting to show as Akerman had a rough day 4. The Scotties is a long spiel and its not about who is winning in the first weekend who can grind through those week-days. She fell to St-Georges, and Sturmay yesterday - this is going to make it hard to come out on top of a likely tie-breaker for the 3rd spot in the pool.
Lawes: Lawes did well to beat Curtis from NL, we saw sparks of the team we have come to know. Unfortunately, in her game vs Quebec it was St-Georges that look on a roll. Lawes lost 7-5 after giving up steals in both 9th and 10th ends.
Einarson: While it was a messy road, team Canada came out on top of Brown (BC) 9-8, and then rolled over PE (10-4). Looks like Team Einarson have found the car keys.
Cameron: Team Cameron (MB) was thumped by our Ontario’s very own Inglis Giving them their first lost.
Sturmay: The Ackerman (SK) vs Sturmay (AB) game was the highlight of the day in my opinion. Ackerman started to show nerves and challenges with the changing ice while Sturmay was able to adjust an evolve with the game. The result was steals in 3rd (2 points) and 9th (1 point) ends.
In many yesterday was a “righting of the ship” day, where team we expected to do well got a handle on the situation and started to dig in, while the surprises started to become less surprising. It’s become pretty clear that 3 loses in this spiel essentially means you are going to be out of the running. This means the field is going to get alot smaller today. Who can keep their good results coming?

Going into today here are the standings in each pool:

BC (Brown) at 2 and 2
MB (Lawes) at 1 and 3

MB (Jones) at 4 and 0
ON (Homan) at 3 and 0
BC (Grandy) at 3 and 1
MB (Cameron) at 2 and 1
ON (Inglis) at 2 and 2
NS (Smith) at 1 and 3
NB (Adams) at 1 and 3

NT (Galusha) at 0 and 3
Looking Forward
We have three more draws today. (Schedule Found here). Here are the games I am going to be watching:
Cameron (MB) is going to try to say alive against the force of nature Homan (ON) in the opening draw. The afternoon draw has two games that should be good. Einarson (CA) vs Ackerman (SK) will have Ackerman on the bubble with two losses while Einarson is looking to take command of her pool, and St-Georges (QC) vs Sturmay (AB) will be a massive result for the tiebreakers I suspect. Finally this evening first place in the pool will be up for grabs as Homan (ON) takes on Jones (MB). I suspect Rachel has no interest in letting Jones stroll to her 7th and last Scotties win?
Thanks for catching up with me this morning! See you all tomorrow!
